Cova do Vapor
Entirely self-built by its residents on a conflictive and marginal territory threatened by exploitative industrial projects, the Portuguese village of Cova do Vapor is a vulnerable social environment whose only protection is represented by the strong sense of community and identity of its residents.
Keeping in mind the lessons of the English landscape masters, the pictures zoom in from the landscape to the person, playing with the juxtaposition of a picturesque setting and a gritty urban environment to highlight the struggle of its inhabitants to preserve their identity and myths.
